CHARLOTTE, Mich., August 24, 2023 — Today, at 11 a.m., Eaton County celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking of its Youth Facility Building Expansion.

The expansion project is set to add an impressive 13,922 square feet of space to the existing Youth Facility. This additional space will include two new housing units, a dedicated intake area, a state-of-the-art classroom, versatile meeting spaces, well-equipped offices, and recreational space.

“The Eaton County Youth Facility is an important resource for juveniles involved in the justice system.,” said Commissioner Terrance Augustine (Grand Ledge). “With the Raise the Age Initiative in the State of Michigan, providing adequate housing and facilities for our youth will remain extremely important.”

The construction work for the Youth Facility expansion is being led by Granger Construction Company. Collaborating closely with them is Byce & Associates, the Architect on the project.

“I am proud that the Youth Facility expansion will contribute to the local economy by creating good-paying jobs,” said Commissioner Jacob Toomey (Windsor Township). “Nearly 80% of the contractors involved are unionized. Additionally, 30% of the contractors will be located within Eaton County.”
